LAPC 2017 seminar suggested speaker request

I received several members suggestions for 2017 LAPC seminar speakers. Thanks!

If you did not make a suggestion, please let me know your preference for a seminar speaker for 2017.

The professional photographer can come from Canon's Explorers of Light program or the Nikon Ambassador program.

Email your thoughts to vice-president@linnareaphotoclub.org .

I plan on contacting the pro before August as their schedules fill up very quickly in the spring.

Last Foam Core Orders

I am taking one last order for foam core 11×14″ for LAPC members.

White $1 each.                      Black $2 each.

Email vice-president@linnareaphotovlub.org with your name and quantity desired.

Seeking additional images for the seminar that shows the work of LAPC photographers

As of this evening, we have only around 20 images to hang at the seminar. And I know that we easily have 3X that many good photographers in the club. And I know that each of you have at least one image you truly love. With that in mind, Doug and I are asking you to email membership@linnareaphotoclub.org with  your name and a title of that special image you want to share with everyone on Saturday.

Please read the directions below and then bring them to Cedar Valley Bible Church at 5pm Friday night. When you arrive, please find Doug Hoeger.

Here are the rules to be included in the display:

All photos must be mounted/matted to 11×14, the only exception being panoramics. This provides for a nice, consistent looking display.

  1. Each member may submit 1 photo for display.  Additional photos may be submitted if space permits.  (There are 6 panels which hold around 6 photos per side/panel, so we're looking at being able to display approx. 72 photos).
  2. Photos for display should be brought to the April meeting.
  3. Photo info including artist name and image title must  be provided to me at Sunday's meeting to allow for enough time to make the cards for the display.
  4. Photos must be taken down/home immediately following the seminar.

Thanks, BobL

State Fair Photography question answered

I was asked about matting images for the state fair today.

I spoke to Charlie Starnes-Superintendent of the Photo Exhibit and he said at least 60% of the images that are entered are without matting. He also said many times the judges have a difficult time judging a matted image as the matting is “terrible, poorly done, wrong colors”, etc. His recommendation was to not mat, unless you use very neutral colors, i.e. white or black.

Re-Ordering foam board

If you would like to purchase either the white ($1 each) or the black ($2 each) 11×14″ foam board, please email vice-president@linnareaphotoclub.org ASAP.

I will need your name, and both the quantity and the color(s) you want in the email.

I will have them at the May meeting and I may have them at the seminar.

Please have the exact amount of cash or a check (to Linn Area Photo Club), as LAPC can not make change.

Orders need to be emailed to me by end of the day Thursday, April 14th.

Thanks.

LAPC Photos Display at the Nikon Ambassador Seminar

Just a reminder to bring photos that you would like displayed at the upcoming seminar this Sunday so I can get the cards made.

Thanks Doug Hoeger
