“Iowa's Best Family Festival”

The region's most popular spring festival returns to the Amana Colonies on Memorial Day Weekend. It's time to celebrate history at the 21st annual IOWA RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL & Gathering o'Celts on May 26-27-28th (11am to 6pm).

Named “Iowa's Best Family Fest” because of it's multi-faceted shows and hands-on activities for all age interests, this unique event is an assembly of professional performers and artisan merchants from all over the Midwest.

Middle Amana Park in the heart of the Amana Colonies hosts the 300 costumed characters who turn one of the most attractive settings in Eastern Iowa into an outdoor royal faire with all of the historical and cultural trimmings of 16th Century Europe.

As a “rain or shine” festival it displays 50 tent pavilions, an indoor royal banquet hall with beer garden, two shelter houses, six stages of entertainment, three living history encampemts, dozens of folk life exhibits, a children's realm, public-participation games of skill, a huge natural amphitheater for the horseback jousting tournament, an artisan merchant bazaar and an easy-access free parking lot.

“Our nationally touring performers are the hi-light of this event,” points out producer Gregory Schmidt of Iowa's own Festivals International. “And then we showcase some of the most unique artists and crafts artisans for the public to purchase rare and unusual goods. It's a challenge to take it all in with one day, so we offer two and three-day discounts for the weekender tourists. You should see all of the different state license plates in the parking lot.”

Admission is $10 for adults, $6 for kids with tots (under 6) free. The two-day pass is $15 and the three-day is $18.  Group discounts are also offered.
