Photography:   Better Flower Photography

4-week program on Mondays beginning April 1, 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.

When you capture an image of a flower, all too often the results can be disappointing. It’s easy to end up with a lackluster snapshot with little artistic merit. How can you avoid that from happening? Join award-winning fine art nature photographer Mark Stoltenberg as he finally teaches the long requested class that focuses on specifically taking better flower images. By putting exposure, light, composition, depth of field and perspective together, this class aims to improve your flower photos and increase your chances of capturing the occasional masterpiece.

You will need to bring the following to each class: your DSLR camera, and sturdy tripod. Beginner photography or instructor permission is the prerequisite for this class. Registration with prepayment is required by Sunday, March 31.

Photography: The Art of Seeing

4-week course beginning Monday, June 3, 2019 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.

It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see! This class will help you explore your photographic potential. Photography is an exercise in the art of observation. Learn to pay attention to the details and capture the moments that tell stories. Join award-winning photographer and instructor Mark Stoltenberg as he teaches you to better “see” and “capture” the world around you. This class will change the way you look at the world and what you can do with your own camera.

Photography: Off Camera Flash

4-week course beginning Tuesday, June 4, 2019 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Join our beloved instructor Mark Stoltenberg as he starts you at the beginning of off camera flash with the basics and one flash, and then takes you through everything you need to know; from technique to gear, to mastering the Speedlight and taking better pictures almost immediately. Mark will get you up and running with the key features and functions that will enable you to get the most out of this flash. You’ll learn about the key buttons and dials, how and when to use each setting. All throughout the class Mark will share his insights, tips, and tricks to help you get the most out of your flash and enable you to create the images you’ve been dying to create.

You will need to bring the following to each class: your DSLR camera and sturdy tripod. Note: Beginner photography or instructor permission is the prerequisite for this class. Preregistration with prepayment is required by Monday, June 3.

Photography: Master Study


4-week program on Tuesdays beginning April 2, 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Back by popular demand! One of the best ways to learn any art form is by exploring a master artist’s methods. Under the expert guidance of professional photographer Mark Stoltenberg, you will study the creative process of eight new photographers who have truly mastered the trade. Through image analysis, class discussion and class homework, this course will offer new insight into how to approach your own images, boost your confidence, expand your critical eye, and improve your photography.
You do NOT need to bring your DSLR camera nor sturdy tripod. Beginner photography or instructor permission is the prerequisite for this class. Registration with prepayment is required by Monday, April 1.

Photography: Black & White Digital


4-week course beginning Wednesday, April 3, 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.

One of the best ways to increase your ability to find great photography subjects is to learn to shoot in black & white. Join Mark Stoltenberg as you’ll learn the key elements of a successful black and white image. Mark will walk you through the steps to take, from planning to pre-visualization to capture and then to post-processing. Learn the various processes and conversion options to move your color image to black and white using both Lightroom and several 3rd party plug-in options.
You will need to bring the following to each class: your DSLR camera and sturdy tripod. Note: Beginner photography or instructor permission is the prerequisite for this class. Preregistration with prepayment is required by Tuesday, April 2.

4-week course on Tuesdays beginning May 7, 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Capturing the personality of your child or grandchild in a photo is challenging. Some kids are shy and some are outgoing. Some kids can’t sit still. The trick is to take what they offer and be ready for the unexpected. Join Mark for some great instruction and tips for photographing your children or grandchildren. Learn everything from what gear you need, how to capture your kids in motion, to what camera settings will give you the best image quality, and how to pay attention to the backgrounds.

4-week course beginning Wednesday, May 8, 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Join professional photographer and instructor Mark Stoltenberg as he helps you go beyond the “Green” button, take control of your DSLR, and make better photographs. And it doesn’t even matter what brand of camera you use, as these lessons apply to all DSLR cameras. Mark will teach depth of field, aperture, light, composition, finding your subject, “tips and tricks” and so much more. Once you start putting these concepts into practice you’ll see an immediate improvement in your work. Each class is broken into 3 parts: classroom discussion, hands-on practice taking pictures by the students, and review of the images taken.
You will need to bring the following to each class: your DSLR camera & sturdy tripod. This class is the prerequisite for the many other photography classes offered at Reiman Gardens. Preregistration with prepayment is required by Tuesday, May 7.
